Event Description : 'Gandhi’s Gita – Anasakti' English Play, a major new production of the Akshara Theatre. Adapted from Anasakti Yog (Mahatma Gandhi’s interpretation of the Bhagavad Gita), the play is set in Kausani near Almora, over a two-week period in 1929. The play features the characters of Mahatma Gandhi, Kasturba Gandhi and other historical and representative figures of the period. Powerfully enacted verses from the Bhagavad Gita, narration, letters to and from Gandhiji, music, poetry and Sanskrit chanting by Gopal Sharman complete the play.
Major characters are played by Jalabala Vaidya, Vikalp Mudgal, Nisa Schette, Angad Thakur and Mahima Saigal.
Adapted for the stage and directed by Jalabala Vaidya with original music and sets by Gopal Sharman
