Event Description : Rumi Foundation presents 'Jahan-E-Khusrau'.
Jahan-e-Khusrau, the Annual World Sufi Music Festival was launched in Delhi in 2001. Presented by Rumi Foundation and designed and directed by filmmaker- painter Muzaffar Ali, Jahan-e-Khusrau has been a regular feature in the cultural calendar of Delhi. The festival has the distinction of hosting eminent artists of the Sufi traditions from all over the world. Jahan-e-Khusrau has acquired the status of a pioneer, which has conceptualized and consistently delivered this form of music to its growing circle of lovers across the globe.

Filmmaker Muzaffar Ali, Creative Director of the Festival, says, “One of our most important
objectives for this festival has been to create a bridge between the East and the West and make the audience realize its universalism. And to develop new audiences for contemporary Sufi music through attracting a broad mix of festival attendees- tourists, corporate entities, families and local residents, as well as contemporary Sufi music aficionados.”

Each year Jahan-e-Khusrau presents rare lyrics of Sufi mystics in an innovative form. It has showcased Sufi singers, dancers and musicians from different cities of the world from Delhi, Lucknow, Jaipur, Hyderabad, Ajmer, Lahore, Karachi, Dhaka, Tashkent, Tehran, Jerusalem, Rabat, Tunis, Istanbul, Rome, Khartoum, Cairo, Athens, Berlin, Tokyo, New York and Toronto.
The festival has presented masters such as Shubha Mudgal, Shafqat Ali Khan, Ila Arun, Sukhwinder Singh, Malavika Sarrukai, Shujaat Hussain Khan and Abida Parveen.
