Event Description : Akshara Theatre's Festival of Four Languages -- showcasing the best in theatre, poetry, music and film, presented in the four official languages of Delhi – Hindi, English, Urdu and Punjabi. It is conceived as a 4-day celebration of the four official languages of Delhi.
Plays, musical performances, poetry-recitation, films, talks will be presented by some of Delhi’s best-loved performers: musician Rabbi Shergill, comedian Surinder Sharma, Kathak maestro Pt. Birju Maharaj, actors Sushma Seth, Kanika Aurora, Amba Suhasini, Sudhir Tandon, Sabina Mehta Jaitley and others. Theatre groups like Asmita, Pierrot’s Troupe, Paltan, Entropy, Saksham Arts as well as our own Akshara Theatre will present outstanding. productions like Akshara’s Gandhi’s Gita: Anasakti, M. Syed Alam's 1947, Chauraha by Shoelace Productions, Baanee Sharad's Main Asansol Nahi Gaya, Paltan's Bhartendu ka Bazaar etc., . There will be dramatized book readings on the life and works of Mohan Rakesh, Amrita and Imroz, Leela Naidu and Pitras Bukhari. Folk, classical, rock and rap will be performed by Madangopal Singh and Chaar Yaar, DSync Deepankar, Bidisha Roy, Nisa Schette and Vipin Heero. NGO Chahal will present Gharonda -- a play by and for children.
There will also be a daily Food Court, Street Theatre Festival and Poetry of Protest on Saturday, Zumba Danceathon on Sunday and many other fun activities.
The Festival will be a feast for all the senses, as well as the heart and the soul!

7pm Main Asansol Nahi Gaya - Hindi play based on humorous stories of Sharad Joshi, directed by Baanee Sharad and performed by Entropy Theatre – Akshara Theatre
7.30pm Sharartein Dramatised Reading of humorous Urdu stories of Pitras Bukhari  performed by Saksham Theatre Group – Poetry Theatre
7.30pm Punjabi Folk Music by Madan Gopal Singh and Char Yaar  & Punjabi Rap by DSync Deepankar and Crew - Pipal Tree Theatre

7pm Leela – dramatized book reading in English based on the writings of Leela Naidu, Jerry Pinto  and Sunil Murthy, performed by Amba Suhasini K. Jhala and Sudhir Tandon, with excerpts from Bidisha Roy’s film: Lila - Poetry Theatre followed by songs from Anuradha and Light Classical Hindustani Music by Bidisha Roy - Poetry Theatre
7.15pm 1947 – satirical production in Urdu written and directed by M. Syed Alam performed by Salim Shah and Pierrot’s Troupe - Akshara Theatre

5pm: Gharonda – aspirational play by streetkids under the auspices of NGO Chahal, directed by Praveen Jain - Akshara Theatre
6.30pm Amrita- Imroz (Punjabi) – Dramatisation of the book: Amrita & Imroz – A Love Story  by Uma Trilok, enactment by Sabina Mehta Jaitley, D.K. Behl, Deepankar, Shaily Priya, & Imroz-

In addition there will be children’s performances, exhibitions and food court featuring healthy street snacks each evening.
