Event Description : Book launch: “Poems” by Gabriela Mistral

As part of Literature and Thinking series. 

Synopsis : In 2009, the then President of the Republic of Chile, Dr Michelle Bachelet visited the JSW headquarters in Mumbai. Delegations from both sides discussed a range of opportunities in areas of arts and heritage conservation and education. Subsequent dialogue included the need to promote the work of Chilean artists and intellectuals. In 2011, the partnership chose to publish selected poems of Gabriela Mistral, Nobel Laureate for Literature in 1945 and get these illustrated by school children. Children from two JSW schools in Maharashtra and Karnataka have
interpreted the poems in their own creative style.
