Event Details : Blind Relief Association presents Diwali Bazar 2012.
“Diwali” has a very special significance for the Blind Relief Association, Delhi, a premier organization in the country serving in the field of education, vocational training and rehabilitation of the blind for nearly seven decades. Preceding this Festival of Lights, from 5 to 11 November, the Association’s Campus will get transformed into a colourful “Diwali Bazar”. This week-long event, popularly known as Blind School Diwali Bazar, has acquired a prominent position in the shopping and cultural calendar of Delhi. A major attraction of the Bazar is, of course, the Association’s own stall where colourful candles and diyas in various shapes and designs, attractive paper carry bags, envelops and other paper-crafted items, floor-mops and dusters etc., made by the visually challenged at the Association’s different units are sold. The Bazar is equally known for the variety of exclusively designed and crafted goods, artifacts, ladies dresses, health food etc. put on sale by a large number of non-governmental organizations, designers and crafts persons. Diwli Bazar provides an exclusive platform them to reach out to discerning buyers. Besides being a gift-buyer’s paradise, the Bazar’s ‘Food Court’ offers an exotic variety of snacks and cuisines. Not only that there will also be visually challenged masseurs trained by the Association who will be there at the BAZAR to relax your tired limbs and let you experience first-hand their professional skills.
Fun and shopping apart, Diwali Bazar is an event with a cause. It brings the Association closer to the society and helps in a major way in projecting the capabilities and achievements of the visually challenged. The earnings from Diwali Bazar goes to finance the Association’s diverse units and programmes like senior secondary school for blind boys, a teachers training college, various vocational training programmes besides other supportive services mainly for the visually impaired.
