An interesting mix of art, design and fashion in Shola Carletti’s multi-media brightly coloured work with shimmering gold layers in varied forms and sizes, seems to have drawn some of its inspiration from Andy Warhol though there are also markers in its abstraction of her interest in meditation.
Trained in graphic design at ISA School of Art of Urbino in Italy, Shola Mara Carletti worked for a renowned Italian advertising agency as their Creative Director for campaigns including corporate branding, exhibitions and trade fairs. It was her work as Art Director of Italian Magazine Osho Times that kindled a spiritual bent in her mind. And she came to the Osho meditation resort at Pune, some sixteen years ago and loved the country, the city and its people so much that she decided to make this her main base.
A painter, sculptor, and graphic designer, Shola besides creating her own art works also collaborates with architects, interior designers and corporate communication experts to create logos, web designs, and publications.  Meditative but also opulent, her abstraction appears with layered textures in a rich and joyful palette that adorns several private and public spaces including The Blue Fire - Bar & Grill in Pune, where a series of her paintings add to its décor, or the Purple Haze - Lounge bar in Bangalore, that hosts twelve of her digital art-works portraying the legends of Rock music, or the Radisson White Sands Resort in Goa, amongst other projects. Her sculptures mostly in fiber glass are more like wall installations and she is increasingly experimenting with digital work in her paintings too.
Most of Shola’s work is marked for a predominant use of a distinct colour with a liberal use of gold. Exhibited extensively in solo and group shows in her home country Italy and here in India it has also been exhibited in Dubai and has found its way into significant private and corporate collections. Titles of some her solo shows In Wonder held at Pune, Gravity at Mumbai, The Entita at Chennai, Silence in between colors at Bangalore, Pittura/Scultura at Novalis, Pesaro, Italy and Signs here at Art Positive Gallery in Delhi are suggestive of her focus on a meditative stance in her vibrant abstract renditions.
