The Seeker Within Memories are transcendental by nature. They are the quintessential time-travellers, darting between now and then, hither and thither with the crisp alacrity of thought. Tranquility: The Seeker Within is a series conceived, nurtured and delivered from the womb of memory, from every walk of life. It is from the past and yet as much enmeshed in the present as is the mind that has been its conduit. Every touch of the brush hovers and settles in the twilight zone between the real and the fantasized. The tranquil mind grasps an impression and make it everlasting on canvas. And this constant striving for meaning mesmerizes the viewer into a state of knowing and nescience. Reality finally comes to settle on the leading edge of perception, Tranquility: The Seeker Within seeks a bond between the artist and the viewer, a kinship that leads each into the others' mind, to a metamorphosis of selves till both co-exist in congruence, as an unbounded matrix of oneness between thought and perception. Towards a harmony of feelings and existence that transcends language, culture and….even memories. Nothing can be achieved with out tranquility, not even activity, in perfection.

About the Artist : Amit Dutt draws with his soul and colours with his passion. It has been almost two decades since he stepped into art school as a young man, impelled into this realm of creativity by a then unfathomed longing to express and create beyond language. Encouraged by an understanding father, a very learned and well-read man in his own right, Amit's years of study and initial work as a commercial artist formed a solid bed-rock for a future of hard work, struggles, recognition and rewards.
Hours, days, weeks, months and years of sketching imparted his fingers a mastery over charcoal and pencil. Form and proportion flowed by themselves and prodded him to enjoin and enrich these with his sense of harmony with colour. His creativity began to reside and flourish in the twilight zone between the real and the fantasized human existence. Whether paper or canvas,
each medium acquired beauty afresh as his brush swept across it. Life saw her own image on it, as his hands created, and was rendered speechless. Amit's delicate instinct of excerption from life and the manner in which he can metamorphose it on canvas opens doors to infinite demesnes' of joy and charm, doors that probably even the most vivid imagination had knocked on in a fruitless search for delight.
Feted and felicitated by a wide spectrum of organizations, institutions and individuals over the years (the Sahitya Kala Parishad recognized his acumen and awarded him as early as 1992 and so have numerous others since) for his magic touch and soulful creations, Amit Dutt is not one to sit on his laurels though. With his unique sense of quiet urgency, he discovers profundity in the ordinary every now and then and goes about sharing it with the world through his canvas. And when a man so equipped and accomplished shares his truth, he can always charm our eyes and minds into seeing what he means. Eulogized by critics and respected by connoisseurs of art, the attention garnered by his numerous solo and group shows are but a reflection of his ability to connect with those who see his art. Amit innately realizes the relation of the visible art to the external world, the sheer necessity of harmony in form and tone and the inborn human desire to connect beauty with truth. His work imbues all this and something more, a wholesomeness that remains intangible in magnitude but all pervading in perception and influence.
