Event Details : Arts and Architecture - Conference: “Active the including city. International Workshop of Architecture Delhi-Barcelona”.
Synopsis: Education as a political tool to improve the living conditions of the cities, specially the application of genre perspective in architecture and urban projects. This year, the first international workshop has been hold by the School of Architecture of Barcelona and the Faculty of Architecture of Jamia University to keep on working in the improvement of Okhla. Everything started with the personal experience of cooperating with a NGO for women in Delhi, when a group of students (Equal Saree) developed one of the final projects of the career in Delhi with the aim of promoting urban actions and equipment to improve the living conditions of women.

Biographies : Josep María Montaner is a doctor architect and cathedratic of Architectonical Composition from the Architecture School of Barcelona, and director and founder of the Visions Magazine. He’s currently co-directing with Zaida Muxí the Master “Laboratory of Housing of the 21st Century”. He writes articles for the journals El País and La Vanguardia, for which he has been awarded the National Urbanism Award for Journalistic Initiative of 2005 by the Ministry of Housing, and he also participates in various magazines with articles and as member of the edition council. He has given courses and conferences in different cities from Spain, France, Germany, Italy, Great Britain, Portugal, Denmark, Netherland, Belgium, Greece, Japan, Philipines, United States, México, Costa Rica, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Chile, Perú, Colombia, Ecuador,
Bolivia, Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina, in prestigious centers like the Graduate School
of Design (GDS) of Universidad de Harvard, the Istituto Universitario d’Architettura of
Venice (IUAV), Architectural Assotiation School of Architecture of London or Instituto
Torcuato Di Tella from Buenos Aires. He’s regularly part of international juries and courts for doctoral thesis.

Zaida Muxí Martínez (Buenos Aires, 1964) is architect by the University of Buenos Aires and doctor by the Superior Technical School of Architectore of Seville, University of Seville. She is assistant teacher of Urbanism at the Superior Technical School of Architectore of Barcelona, in which she has been Sub-director from 2009 to 2012 and is co-director next to Josep Maria Montaner of the Master Laboratory of Housing of the 21st Century”. They have also taken the exhibition “House the present. Housing in Spain: Society, City, Technology and Resources” to Madrid and other Spanish cities, and last year to Latin America. Together they publish, among others, in the Cultural supplement of La Vanguardia, Barcelona. She has given lectures and courses in cities from America, Europe and Asia, including México DF, New York, Shanghai, Vancouver, Delhi, Buenos Aires, Medellín, Bogotá, Quito, Guayaquil, San José de Costa Rica, Montevideo, La Paz, Madrid, Sevilla, Córdoba, Málaga, San Sebastián, Bilbao, A Coruña, Venecia and Alghero.
