Yellow Wallpaper
UK
30 Mins
Stuart Hackshaw
The Yellow Wallpaper is an unusual Gothic horror adapted from the short story of the same name, written in 1892 by Charlotte Gilman Perkins. The film centers on Jane, a lady who is taken to a country home by her husband to recover from an unknown illness. Whilst there, she is confined to her room in order to rest, a room with a strange yellow wallpaper. During her stay she begins to notice things within the wallpaper, but at night is when it really comes alive.
Invention of Love
Canada
10 Mins
Andrey Shushkov
A love story from the world of gears and bolts. “The Invention of Love” blurs the line between humans and machines. In so doing it portrays in stark allegorical simplicity the struggle to remain human in a world in which technology seems dominant, Yuri Shushkov, the maker of this film has made a powerful statement during this brief film.
In God we trust
USA
17 Mins
Jason Reitman
Jason Reitman’s breakthrough short film follows Robert as he learns that it’s the little things in life that count the most. At a chance opportunity, Robert sneaks back to Earth and a chase ensues. As the agents of death try to reclaim him Final Destination-style, Robert frantically makes the rounds doing good deeds to up his score. Can he earn enough points before the schemes of death grab him once again? In God We Trust is a
fun idea and a well-told story.
Payload
Australia
18 Mins
Stuart Willis
In the shadow of a space elevator, Simon Carter must sacrifice everything to save what remains of his family. An 18 minute epic sci-fi short film. The world of Payload drew its inspiration from two very real places: the isolated Australian mining town of Kalgoorlie – full of men and brothels; and the Kazakhstan town of Baikonur – where the locals scavenges the fallen refuse from a nearby Russian spaceport. It was important however that Clarke’s Town (the setting of Payload) not be an allegory for either town, but become its own imagined place. Clarke’s Town is defined only by its function as a spaceport, it is isolated, weathered and indifferent.
The Adventure of a Cardboard Box
USA
8 Mins
Temujin Doran
‘Adventures of a Cardboard Box’ demonstrates an abundance of creativity. Highlighting a kid and his favorite toy, a cardboard box, the film veers from adventure to tragedy in showcasing that many, many (and at 8 minutes, maybe too many) ways that imagination can animate even the most mundane things.
Vincent
USA
6 Mins.
Tim Burton
Vincent Malloy is seven years old, He's always polite and does what he's told. For a boy his age he's considerate and nice, But he wants to be just like Vincent Price. He doesn't mind living with his sister, dog and cats, Though he'd rather share a home with spiders and bats. There he could reflect on the horrors he's invented, And wander dark hallways alone and tormented.
Portal No Escape
Germany
7 Mins
Dan Trachtenberg
A woman wakes up in a room with no memory of who she is or how she got there... This is a short set in the world of the Portal video games created by Valve Software.
The Camera
Canada
8 Mins
Peter Lewis
In an abandoned beach house, a solitary girl finds a mysterious camera that reveals something unexpected.
