Event Details : Suggestive Dichotomies is a show inspired by the concept of the inner and outer experience with figures from different cultures, classes, religions and strata’s of life as the artists subject and muse.
The show is divided into three sections: ‘Vainglory: The Outer World’, ‘Rebirth: The Inner world’ and ‘Deconstruction: The Neutral Territory’. Dualities exist between Kanchan Chander’s mixed media works and Ridhima Sekhri’s prints. Kanchan shows the “outer world” with timeless women icons as her muse. She creates a zone of heroine worship by literally embellishing the prints of such “metaphorically embellished” individuals. On the contrary, Ridhima’s ‘Rebirth’ series is a result of intense scrutiny into her life experiences, which portrays spirituality and inner recognition.
‘Deconstruction’ is that halfway point where the artists meet to showcase their collaborative project. It is an ambiguous portrayal of transformative cultures that brings together the artists works in a neutral zone.
