Event Details : Bharatanatyam Arangetram of Raka Banerjee, disciple of Dr.Yamini Krishnamurti.
Raka is a rare combination of dancer,social worker, a keen learner, painter and an ardent student of music.Raka has grown up in an environment which was both artistically as well as educationally inclined. Her father Mr. Purnendu Banerjee is a reputed statistician and currently works in the Indian Statistical service. Raka's mother Dr
Kamalika Banerjee is a Reader in Chemistry at IGNOU as well as a dancer, horeographer and a singer.
Raka started learning dance from a very early age at Kolkata.Later she came under the wings of Dr Yamini Krishnamurthy at New Delhi.Raka has performed in several dance concerts ranging from her school programme, concerts in the Azad Bhawan, ICCR,
Gurgaon Epicentre, IGNOU convention centre and in thematic dance documentary on “Chipko movement”. She has also taken part in concerts conducted by her Guru Dr Yamini Krishnamurthy. She is a student of Mother's International School at New Delhi from where she passed class 10(CBSE) with a CGPA 10 and has represented her school in
various interschool competitions. Raka has pursued her training in piano from the Theme Music Institute and has completed the Trinity Guild Hall Foundation Level Graded Exam in Music Literacy with distinction from the Trinity college.London.She is currently learning flute under the guidance of Shri Himangshu Kumar and has performed in several concerts in her school. Raka has worked for the cause and care of the elderly under Helpage India. She is currently working for the restoration of the Begampur Mosque, New Delhi.
At present she is in class eleven of the MIS pursuing the science stream.
