Event Details : Gallery NIV presents 'In Spirit With Nature' an exhibition of paintings by K G Babu.
To go into solitude, a man needs to retire as much from his chamber as from society. I am not solitary whilst I read and write, though nobody is with me. But if a man would be alone, let him look at the starts.
To remain in touch with nature, is to be in touch with the creator. And when one cannot fearlessly be presented in this association, one looks to people who are able to. For, to be oblivious to the change in the world around, and to chose to live and love with nature, is the start to living life in its fullness. Babu sees this in the tribals of Kerela. As different as they may seem to many, the understanding eventually arises that tranquility has been with us from the start, when man was born in the lap of nature: Distancing and demarcating oneself from the very tangible proof of the presence of the spirit is an act which calls for reconciliation. But this reconciliation comes full circle, when one returns to the very source. Babu is an artist who has lived in the heart of Kerala's lush tropics. Drawing energy from the forest that bordered his home, it transformed from being his playground to a world of fantasy and stories. When he left this enriching, soothing environment and was thrust into a world inundated with an energy that did not appeal to him, his heart always remained close to the sound of birds, animals and the rustle of leaves. Working in an urban environment. Babu was eventually drawn back to live in a small town in Kerala. Here,he says, he discovered and rediscovered the beauty of life.When he associated himself with tribals, he saw burning in them the spirit of nature. There was no separation. They lived as one. One for the other, giving and talking, which is so intricately woven together. Babu is a spectator, unable to find this merger for himself. For a part of him is urban, modern, with new thinking practices and means to find excitement. But when he paints, he attached himself to the idea of oneness with nature- he feels what they feel, he embraces what they give, They come forth in the lap of nature, carrying the hues of life.Distortions explained the magnification he wants to highlight. Like the large eyes of a child, the same as that of a dragon fly, both free, both in a beautiful universe. while the similar colour tones between humans and nature, tell of their dance together. K G babu is a spiritualist and a lover of life. He strives to live fully, while is seen in the depth of his work.
