Event Details : Gallerie Nvyā presents "The Sacred Icon: A Modern Revelation" A Solo show featuring recent artworks of Ramesh Gorjala, showcasing his delicate and intricate technique and portraying his contemporary take on spiritual and mythological subjects through Kalamkari, a style that has deep root in ancient art. With a new experimental pallete of pink, green, red and gold, Gorjala creates a rich feeling of grandeur fitting for the Indian mythological gods, like Vishnu, Krishna, Rama and Hanuman that he portrays. With immense detailing Gorjala often includes a number of iconographic forms encompassed within the main protagonist of his work, giving a larger than life feeling to the spectator.

About the Artist : Born in Andhra Pradesh, in 1979, Ramesh Gorjala studied at Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University in Hyderabad, where he received his Bachelor’s degree in painting. His work has won him various awards, including the 2000 Mahatma Gandhi Birth Centenary Memorial Award from the Victoria Technical Institute (V.T.I.), Chennai, and the 2002 State Award from the A.P. Crafts Council. Collected amongst the most prestigious collections the world over he has to his credit a number of solo and group shows.
