Event Details : Electronica with Soul – Berliner Apparat on an Indian Tour. As part of “Germany and India2011 – 2012: Infinite Opportunities”
For followers of evolving acts in electronic music, an aural treat is just around the corner. Often described as the missing link between Steve Reich and Radiohead, and following the wide success of the 2011 album "The Devil's Walk", Apparat (Sascha Ring) will be on a concert tour across various cities in India between - the 24th to the 31st of August 2012 in the cities of Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai and Delhi.
Under the aegis of the on-going year of Germany in India titled "Germany and India 2011-2012: Infinite Opportunities", this tour is set to be ripe with richly textured, emotional electronica and heavy sci-fi soul. It has been said about Apparat's sound, that its "euphoric melancholy" impels you to punch the air with joy while tears stream down your cheeks. Having furnished tracks with guitars, drums, keyboards and whatever else was lying around the studio, the natural progression is for Sascha to perform new Apparat songs (and some older ones) with a live band. No longer a solo act, the band will comprise of six members on its Indian tour.

About Apparat : Apparat has been a prominent figure in contemporary electronic music for a decade. Better known as a member of the popular gonzo electro collective Moderat, therecent album is his first recording for the label Mute. His earlier work, mostly for cult electronics label Shitkatapulthas spawned fans around the world, with the new track “Ash/Black Veil” has notching up 90,000 plays on Soundcloud.
The Devil’s Walk, with its cool, contemplative dream-pop and bruise-tender Sigur Rós texture, makes Apparat’s move away from the dancefloor a little more explicit.Sacha has always been on the hunt for interesting electronic sounds, but at some point, when everything got computerised and there was a plug-in for every sound, the method started to seem a little redundant and not new enough to experience. This is when he started getting more interested in the old-school ‘songs’.Over time, Apparat’s sounds have evolved with inclusions of ‘real’ instruments, lending the music a more traditional and warm feeling. In recent times, he has been more interested in designing sounds than beats.
