About Skip Bop Trip:The Berklee Led Guitar Jazz Trio
'Skip Bop Trip' is a contemporary jazz trio consisting of Pranav Pahwa on Guitars, Sahil Warsi on the Double Bass and Kartikeya Srivastava on the Drums. The sound of the band is centered around Modern and Contemporary Jazz and their repertoire includes a mash of their own music - along with renditions of tunes composed and performed by artists such as Avishai Cohen, Pat Metheny, Kurt Rosenwinkel & Antonio Sanchez.
Kartikeya Srivastava is one of the leading drummers of his generation in the city. A Visharad in Indian Classical Tabla from the prestigious Bhatkhande Sangit Vidyapith, Kartikeya has balanced his musical studies by studying with drummers from all over the world including Ian Froman, Kim Plainfield, Bob Gullotti, Casey Scheurell, Darryn Farrugia and Vince Cherico among others.
He has been actively involved with a wide variety of musical setups including the Julphan Tilapornputt Trio (Boston), Mogavi (London) and Phi(re) (New Delhi). At the age of 19, Kartikeya earned a scholarship to Berklee College of Music, Boston, where he is currently a 5th semester student. Currently Kartikeyais in the process of recording guitarist Julphan Tilapornputt’s debut album. He is also going to be teaching at Global Music Institute, New Delhi this summer.
Sahil Warsi is one of the youngest double bassists in the city. He plays with a number of well established Jazz projects - including Drift (Contemporary Jazz and Bebop) and Syncopation (Jazz/funk) and has also done session work around the country for artists such as 'UNK - the Radha Thomas Ensemble', Bangalore; 'Weird Theory', Calcutta; 'Adi & Suhail' - New Delhi; 'Tarun Balani Collective', New Delhi; 'Variety Hour', New Delhi; 'Red Mawkin', New Delhi.
Pranav Pahwa is a Delhi based Jazz Fusion guitar player. He is currently studying with Berklee online and is a part of the band Jester. He is also a sessions artist and solo artist. During his college days he was part of the Kirori Mal college music society (Musoc). He attended the Berklee Five week summer performance programme this year, where he got placed in the ‘All Star Worldmusic Ensemble’ and played at the Berklee Performance Center. Currently he is faculty at Global Music Institute.
