Mangerbani Forest (21 mins/Eng) Dir. Ishani K Dutta Prod. Ashish
Dutta
Once upon a time… there was this forest of faith. A sacred grove that held in its heart secrets of a bygone era; expressed through a rich treasure trove of folklores and traditions… A forest that runs in the blood of its people… A forest of conflicts, which tradition named Mangerbani. While no-one could deny that the forest was there because it was there for everyone to see, whether it could be defined as a forest became a big bone of contention. Maybe that’s because land comes at a premium here; because if it is not a forest, there’s no need to conserve it; because developers are waiting to pounce on it, and they mean big money; and maybe because there’s no one to really prevent them, because “this is not a forest.”
The Land of Vanishing Lakes (Eng/ 22 mins) Dir. Ishani K Dutta
The most popular lakes of National Capital Region have disappeared. The 2 billion year old water bodies of the Aravallis – Surajkund, Badkhal and Damdama, have all dried up. This film looks at the nexus between the corrupt bureaucracy with the construction and the mining mafia. With exclusive bytes from Retired Forest
officers, Environmentalists and Scientists, we piece together the whole story behind the current mess.
