Melody is their biggest draw, and that's what separates them from the rest. Climbing popularity charts slowly and steadily, Kalpvriksh's novelty lies in its amalgamation of sounds from an array of varied instruments which flow in perfect euphony. If fusion ruffles your soul, this one act may become your new best ear-mate.
The sound brings together the diverse musical elements of the east and the west as it presents an infusion of various sub-genres such as House, Electronic, Blues, R&B, Hindustani classical & Sufi.
The guitars add the sound of the ever popular nylon string Spanish flamenco and classical guitar. The flourishes of rhythm as found in flamenco as well the sounds of the Ud and exotic mid-eastern music played on the guitar expands the generic boundaries and makes the world a smaller place. Blues and neoclassical guitar have an important role in making this band a versatile outfit.
The flute plays a vital part in the band’s melodic ventures. One can hear the influences of Indian classical, Chinese as well as the Irish traditional sounds. The vocals truly represent the flavour of old delhi and cover the classical song rendition style made famous by the Delhi Gharana. They also help in bringing elements of music from across the borders.Kalpvriksh uses percussion instruments from different parts of the country and abroad. One can hear African, Arabic, Iranian influences well merged with the tabla that represents the Delhi Gharana.
The computer and synthesizer form the backbone of the sound of Kalpvriksh. In short, the sound of Kalpvriksh is not that of the different sounds of different regions, instruments or cultures. Kalpvriksh diffuses all boundaries and represents /provides the sound of free music.
The band comprises Upmanyu Bhanot (synthesizer and computer programming), Vinay (flute Indian/western/Chinese recorder), Ssharad Jain (bass) and features Kennedy Emanuel (classical/jazz guitar), Rashid Zafar Khan (tabla), Th. Sanjeev (electric guitars), Danish khan (vocals), Geetika Sharma (vocals) and Hiten Panwar (percussion).
