Discover with their eyes, ears, feet & their hearts the thrilling stories of intrigue, danger & conspiracies during India’s first war of independence, 155 years after those turbulent times. Imagine wandering along trails amongst ancient jungles and the narrow alleys of Delhi which saw armies clashing in fierce hand-to-hand fights. Imagine seeing cannon-ball marked ruins! Imagine you are one of the sepoys of the East India Company, who has to choose sides of becoming either a rebel or an ally of the British!
May 1857. ‘DilliChalo’ was the battle cry of thousands of Indian soldiers of the British East India Company who rebelled against their English masters.
The revolt spread across the Northern parts of India and Delhi the capital of the crumbling, almost non-existent Mughal Empire was suddenly thrust into prominence and Delhi's Red Fort became the rallying point for the mutineers & civilians from all parts of India.
Imagine the boom-boom of heavy canons pounding the houses, fort walls, the residences of the English and the barracks as first the Mutineers attacked Delhi in May 1857, and later when the English forces laid siege to regain Delhi after four months.
As Delhi fell to the British forces, the Revolt of 1857 also lost steam & broke up into pockets of armed resistance. But for those 5 months Dilli was where the action was, mute witness to the good, the horrifying &the chaotic!
