Event Details : This is to inform you that the Digital Empowerment Foundation (DEF) and Association for Progressive Communications (APC) is organising the National Consultative Workshop on ‘Internet Rights, Accessibility, Regulation & Ethics’ on 3 May, 2012 at Scope Complex, New Delhi.
The half-day national consultative workshop is being supported by the Department of Information Technology and the National Internet Exchange of India, Govt. of India.
The organizers are holding the above consultative workshop covering the larger theme of internet and outlining India’s progress towards ‘Internet Access for All’, and specific areas of concern – right to information, internet & information access, internet governance, Internet regulation, content specifications, cyber law, and appropriate policy framework.
The national consultation workshop through this platform is inviting relevant stakeholders, including public representatives, private players, academia, policy advocators, entrepreneurs, civil-society groups, technologists, and stakeholders to address the entire gamut of issues around ‘Internet for All’ involving rights, accessibility, obligations, regulations, guidelines, principles, ethics, privacy and other areas.
As a major outcome, the Consultation shall come out with a suggestive framework to adopt relevant, appropriate and time bound measures to accelerate the availability, affordability and accessibility of the internet and address issues around it. It will also put an effort toward building uniform policy and programme declarations for further follow up and action-taken steps.
