It is a play about friendship and the loss of it. Harry Levine and Jake Manheim are two friends and failed artists. Harry is an obscure novelist, whom most publishers think dead, and has written a third novel now. He has given the manuscript to Jake to read it and give his feedback on it. Jake is a brilliant writer, wrote two critically acclaimed short stories when he was 19 but nothing since then. Post that he went into photography, and barely lives out of his means. Meanwhile, few months back Jake had taken a modest loan from Harry but has not returned it till date. On this particular night, Harry is broke, thrown out of his job at the chic French restaurant, and has now decided to pay a visit to Jake to ask for his money back, and in the process get a feedback on his novel too. As the evening unfurls, it turns out that Jake has read the novel but has been pretending that he hasn't because he is cross with Harry. He believes Harry has stolen his life and put that in his novel. The argument snowballs in to a verbal duel, and ends in to bitterness and acrimony.
