Event Details : The People's Project has now started the Artist-in-Residence program - the first of its kind in India for local artisans. Each month, artists from various villages will be coming to Delhi, to explore their own creativity and will be mentored by experts in the industry.
During this time, they would also be hosting workshops for the public. These include arts such as Chittara, Miniature painting, Kavad art, Sanjhi stenciling craft, etc.
Enrol for traditional and folk art painting workshops during the People's Project Artist-Residency!
Experience a new culture, a new tradition, and interact with artisans who're coming all the way from their villages.Folk art forms represent India's cultural identity, and learning them, is just one step towards preserving them.
Each workshop would be held over 6 sessions, i.e every Saturday and Sunday starting April 14. Each session would be 2 hours long, and participants would be permitted to discuss your work with the artist post the session as well.
This will enable people to learn:
a) to make an entire folk-art painting
b) make interesting souvenirs - bags, clocks, stationery, etc
c) and in case the work is good, it will be considered for the final exhibit along-side the artist's work.
All materials would be provided by us.
Arts for April workshops include: Madhubani (Bihar), Chittara ( Karnataka), Saora (Orissa), and Cherial (Andhra)
