Event Details : 'Mystical Rapture' Tanjore paintings by Priya Renganathan.
Tanjore Painting is an important form of classical painting, native to the South Indian town of Thanjavur (anglicized as Tanjore) in Tamil Nadu. The art form dates back to 1600 AD, a period when the Nayakas of Tanjavur encouraged art. One can find traditional Tanjore paintings of Hindu deities made with gold, diamonds and other precious gems, adorning the walls of the palaces and temples of India, and the puja rooms of the rich. Mystical Rapture depicts the energy of various mythologies and religions fused with the traditional Tanjore style of representation - with 24-carat gold, rubies, coral, garnet, pearls and Jaipur stones.

Mystical rapture Tanjore paintings by Priya Renganathan--The paintings were beautiful.There were different themes and depiction of coronation of Rama was very beautifully done.The paintings based on Indonasia depiction of Rama Sita Bali dancing was lovely.A definite must see.
