Event Details : “A Fine Balance” Photography Exhibition by Rajesh Ramakrishnan.
The fine balance photography theme focuses on providing a wider perspective and yet maintain a sharper focus on the key elements of the composition. These pictures recognize the magic in the ordinary and the inherent beauty in the world around us.
Our mind constantly struggles with contradictory thoughts, and our daily lives are a continuous effort to balance our actions. This theme is captured through the fish-eye lens, which seeks to balance between the key elements of the composition.
Rajesh Ramakrishnan says, “We are forever grappling with things that are seemingly contradictory in nature, for example right vs. wrong, or being grounded vs. wanting to seek new experiences, wanting to blend in vs. standing out etc. And all our daily actions are towards balancing these contradictions. I wanted to capture this thought visually and I used a fish-eye lens to accentuate the contrast of making certain elements stand out and push back other elements of the composition. The fish-eye lens gives the effect of looking into the world of contradictions through a peep-hole.”
The collection of photograph hopes to bring into existence certain fleeting moments from our daily lives that might otherwise pass by.
About the photographer : A passionate photographer, as well as a Marketing Professional, Rajesh Ramakrishnan's work has been featured in several publications such as the Hindustan Times, The Times of India, Times Journal of Photography, Asian Photography, The New Indian Express, The Bangkok Post etc. He is a recipient of many awards including The Surajkund Mela Photo contest, Hindustan Times "I Love Delhi" contest and the "Giant Swing" contest of the Bangkok Metropolitan Association. Rajesh has conceptualized and shot two calendars with prominent celebrities. The calendars for 2010 and 2011 based on the themes of Express your emotions and Bring out the Child in You were sold to raise money for NGOs. Rajesh combines his passion for photography with a love for travel and likes capturing the nuances of life on the streets in different cities. Rajesh is currently working on evolving his photography into an art form.
