The Buddha Jayanti Park, set in the beautiful environs of the Delhi ridge was created to commemorate the
2500th anniversary of Buddha’s enlightenment. Besides being a lush and verdant green space, the park also
houses a statue of Buddha and a Bodhi tree.
Ladakh Buddhist Vihar, close to ISBT, by the banks of the Yamuna, houses a beautiful Buddhist temple, as well as a hustling‐bustling market of woolen and other readymade clothes.
Not very far from the Vihar, the charming Tibetan colony at Majnu ka Tila is like a recreation of another world, another place in the city of Delhi. Narrow criss‐crossing streets house markets and shops selling Tibetan crafts, jewellery, books and the place abounds with eateries serving authentic Tibetan food. It also houses a small monastery.
