Event Details : NGO Swechha presents Yamuna Cyclothon.
On the 22nd of January, become one of 1000 citizens raising awareness on Delhi's lifeline river.
At the Yamuna Cyclothon, participants from different quarters – sports enthusiasts, corporates, civil society, media, students, government agencies and celebrities – will cycle along the Yamuna to celebrate the importance of the river, of youth and of volunteering.
Pre-event smart mobs and workshops are currently taking place at schools, universities and public venues around New Delhi.
Background : The Yamuna Cyclothon is a Swechha initiative, sponsored by Hero Cycles' Urban Trail, in association with LBZ, VSO and Green the Gap.
Swechha is a Delhi based not-for-profit organisation that has been working on environmental and active citizenship issues with the youth of the nation for over a decade. Founded in 2000, it strives to inspire action, using awareness, communication, training and advocacy as primary tools – reaching out to over a 100,000 young people every year. Swechha’s path-breaking efforts on the Yamuna have been acknowledged by several governments, as well international organisations, including the United Nations and CNN International.
