Dr Faiyaz A. Khudsar, Scientist Incharge, Yamuna Biodiversity Park, Centre for Environmental Management of Degraded Ecosystems, University of Delhi.
Mr. Manu Bhatnagar, Principal Advisor, Natural Heritage Division at INTACH.
Speakers from Russia:
Mr Viktor Zubakin, President of the Russian Bird Conservation Union, Moscow.
Dr Vladimir Galushin, Professor of Zoology and Ecology of the Moscow State Pedagogical University, Moscow.
The Video conference will focus on the problems related to extinction of Birds. At first glance, the disappearance of few species of birds hardly deserves serious attention. However, scientists believe that the problem is not as simple as it seems. Violations of the food chain and as a consequence - the ecological imbalance can lead to global environmental catastrophes and various epidemics. Moreover, the problem is common to virtually all countries, including Russia and India. What is the real situation? Can we say that scientists underestimate or, conversely, exaggerate the dangers? Experts from both the countries will dwell upon these and other related issues and will suggest feasible solution.
