Event Details : Funky Friday at Circa 1193 with SKA VENGERS, THE VINYL RECORDS, MR HERBALIST , FLEXI K (DJ set), BLESSED LOVE SOUNDSYSTEM
About the Ska Vengers : The band was formed in New Delhi in the fall of 2009, when members of psyche-disco group Emperor Minge, Stefan 'Flexi' Kaye (Keyboard, vocals), 'The Late' Nikhil Vasudevan (drums), Tony 'Bass' Guinard (bass) and singer/actor Miss Samara C joined forces with Reggae Rajahs' Soundsystem DJ Raghav 'Diggy' Dang (guitar), forming India’s first ska/rockstedy band. The crew strengthened its lineup when dancehall singer/toasta and founding member of BASSFoundation, Taru Dalmia aka Delhi Sultanate was added to the fold the following year. Following the release of their first song 'Rudeboy Skank' on the Stupiditties IV compilation in October 2010.
The band created huge waves with a handful of gigs at Ska! Ska! Ska! evenings at Q'BA with their now expanded line up featuring Rie Ona (sax) and Yohei Sato (trombone). Most recently the group played a storming set at Q'BA with Banghra Muffman, Apache Indian, played at Justice on Trial/Free Binayak Sen event at Alliance Francaise and even performed an original piece with writer and social activist Arundhati Roy at a book launch. The band are putting finishing touches to their debut album which is due to be released by end of October when the group will embark on a tour taking in a few big cities who have been deprived of quality live agitprop dance music for too long.

MR HERBALIST
Reggae Rajah's very own Mr Herbalist will be warming up the crowd in his own inimitable fashion spinning a smattering of ska, rocksteady and dub tunes
FLEXI K (DJ set)
Reggae and punk were thrown together by being mutual outcasts, two fingers against authority and a sense of an established order breaking down. Both are rebel music. At punk gigs in London, reggae and dub platters were being played before punk records were available. Later the punks were playing reggae. Flexi K will be spinning tunes from a period leading up to and including the 2-Tone movement that took off at the tail end of the 70s.
BLESSED LOVE SOUNDSYSTEM
Rouz (aka Soul Rebel) is the principle selector of the highly respected German reggae sound system crew Blessed Love. The Berlin-based crew have played at some of the biggest reggae events and are known for their endless supply of dubplates from the top reggae artists in the world. In this set expect to hear some incredible specials and a selection from a DJ with over a decade of experience under his belt.
