Event Details : The Foundation for Indian Contemporary Art (FICA) is pleased to present a series of books for children titled ‘Art for Kids’ authored by Sara Vetteth. The first two in this series are based on the lives and works of the prominent Indian artists A Ramachandran and Ram Kumar. Titled ‘Ramachandran’s Nature Paintings’ and ‘Ram Kumar’s Landscapes’ these books are written in close collaboration with the artists who are living legends. The author introduces us to their work, shares their passion for art and also tells us little stories from their lives.

About the author : Sara was taught in school that there is one ‘right’ way to draw a leaf, a flower or a tree. Sadly, she sees children taught art the same way today.
She hopes her books will help children see art as a means to express their unique way of seeing the world. For the ‘Art for Kids’ series of books, Sara has collaborated with some of India’s most talented artists who have generously shared the stories of their lives, helped select their favourite works and explained the inspiration behind them. She hoped that reading these books will encourage children to explore and have fun with art.
Sara studied and taught at parsons School of Design (New York) and was an Artist-in-Residence at the Bauhaus School (Germany). She works on various design projects that range from websites to palace hotels. She now lives in Chennai with her husband, two children, two dogs, three turtles and numerous fish.

About the artists :

In addition to his large vibrant canvases he has designed several large scale installations.
