(1) Indo Hungary/Fusion Music Concert
Performers: Robert Sinha (Guitar player), Agnes Herczku (Singer), Johar Ali Khan (Violinist)
Ágnes Herczku is the best known folk-ethno singerin Hungary. She is a recipient of several awards and has been the principalsoloist of the Hungarian State Folk Ensemble for nine years.
Robert Sinha was born in Budapest in1973. Born to an Indian father and Hungarian mother, he graduated fromthe Dutch Royal Conservatory as a classical guitar player in May 2006. Johar Ali Khan is the son and disciple of Late Ustad Gohar Ali Khan of Rampur, and grandson of Ustad AliBaksh, the founder of the Patiala Gharana. He specializes in the systematicelaboration of 'Raag' melodies and innovative approach in presenting 'Taan'.
(2) Ocean of Love/ South Africa
A Dance & Poetry Recital by Verushka Pather & Troupe from Natya Ananda, Durban, South Africa.
“You can’t cross the sea merely by standing and staring at the water.” Rabindranath Tagore
An offering of dance interpreted as Love and Peace. Rabindranath’s poetry will be a backdrop, a theme to the past, present and future of the world that Gandhiji and Tagore envisaged, all through the eyes of the Indian Ocean that unites us.
A poet will do the translation of the poems before they are showcased in dance. The classical music compositions will be performed in a contemporary style to enhance emotions. The poet’s readings and music will be simultaneous.
