Event Details : Dance Recital “Divya Smriti” in honour of  Former President R. Venkataraman Birth Centenary.                  
As part of the celebrations of the Birth Centenary of former President of India, Late Shri R. Venkataraman (1910-2009), a special dance recital programme is being jointly organized by the Nehru Memorial Museum and Library and H.E. R. Venkataraman’s family represented by his daughter, Smt. Lakshmi Venkataraman Venkatesan.
The Recital, Divya Smriti will be performed by renowned artistes, Padma Vibhushan Dr. Sonal Mansingh and Padmashri, Dr. Shovana Narayan.
Smt. Sheila Dikshit, Chief Minister, NCT of Delhi will be the Chief Guest on the occasion. Smt. Gursharan Kaur and Dr. Bhishma Narain Singh, former Governor of Tamil Nadu will be the Guest of Honour. Prof. Mahesh Rangarajan, Director NMML and other dignitaries will also be present on the occasion.
An eminent Indian classical dancer and choreographer of Odissi dancing style including Bharat Natyam, Kuchipudi and Chhau, Dr. Sonal Mansingh, is a celebrated and distinguished Indian classical Guru, choreographer and a well-known social activist, researcher and motivational speaker.  She is recipient of many awards including the Padma Bhushan, Sangeet Natak Akademi Award and the Padma Vibhushan.
Joining Dr. Mansingh on the stage is an equally renowned artiste, Dr. Shovana Narayan. A renowned exponent of Kathak, her performances has been well researched and very contemporary, wherein she has intermingled both tradition and modern theories of dance into her own unique style. She is also the recipient of prestigious awards, the Padma Shri and the Sangeet Natak Academy Award.
It is a tribute by the two great maestros to the former President R Venkataraman, who had always upheld that the answer to the chaotic conditions in the world should be found in moral,spiritual and cultural reformation and not through violence. A great patron of the arts, President Venkataraman was revered by all artistes for hosting renowned and budding musicians and dancers, regularly at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. Later on as Chairman of the Kalakskhetra Foundation in Chennai, RV continued to encourage and promote arts forms from all over India.
The Centenary of the former President of India, Late Shri R Venkataraman (RV) (1910-2009), is being organized in different parts of the country. The centenary celebrations are being organized every month all over Delhi in collaboration with prestigious institutions like Teen Murti House, India International Centre, Doordarshan, Indian Council for Cultural Relations, Bharatiya Vidya  Bhavan and many more.
Eminent social and political figures like former President of India Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, Vice-President of India, Shri M. Hamid Ansari, Governors of Punjab and West Bengal, Shri Shivraj Patil and Shri MK Narayanan respectively, Shri Gopal Gandhi, Fmr. Lok Sabha Speakers Shri Somnath Chatterjee and Shri P.A. Sangma, Union Ministers Shri Salman Khursheed and Shri Ashwini Kumar, M.P.’s Dr. Karan Singh, Smt. Kapila Vatsyayan, Shri Chittan, the UN Under Secretary General, spiritual thinkers HH The Dalai Lama and Swami Dayanand Saraswati as well as eminent lawyers and scientists Shri Soli Sorabjee, Prof. MGK Menon and Dr. VS Arunachalem have been highlighting RV’s vision for India as par of the series of programmes.
