Event Details : Cine Darbaar and Children Film Society of India presents Delhi Children Film Festival.
Cine Darbaar and Children Film Society of India are organizing Delhi Children Film Festival. This is the 1st ever film festival for children to celebrate cinema among the youth targeted for age group 9 to 17. The festival will showcase a number of children films and a wholesome range of activities and workshops will be organized for children like Script Writing, Cinematography, Directors tools, Acting Methodology from industry experts and luminaries.
Our festival will also run 8 feature films from the children film society catalogue such as Charandas Chor, Krish Trish and Balti Boys, Sunshine barry and Disco worms. Furthermore, we will be running quizzes and competitions during the festival and winners will be receiving certificates. The festival will also showcase a short film titled The Danish Poet by Torril Kove from Canada on which a review writing competition will be held among the children.
 All the activities are free of cost, no tickets or invitation cards are required. It would be an invaluable and a rare experience for children to participate in this unique endeavour that will be enriching in creating a world view. It will also add an important foundation for learning the soft power and skill development in the world of media, cinema and culture.

10:00 AM : KRISH TRISH AND BALTIBOYS BY MUNJAL SHROFF/60 Min./2009/HINDI
SYNOPSIS: Krish a monkey, Trish a cat and Baltiboy a donkey are 3 minstrels who take you on an exotic
journey to the land of Indian Folk tales and folk music. These endearing characters take you to three
different region of India - Rajasthan, Kerala and Punjab.
11:30 AM:  SCRIPT WRITING WORKSHOP
Details: What is a shooting script? How to write scripts for cinema with an interesting exercise for children to develop their own film scripts.
01:00 PM: LILKI BY BATUL MUKHTIAR/69 MIN/2007/HINDI
SYNOPSIS: Lilkee is a 10 year old domestic help from Nainital brought to Mumbai by a young architect –
Bela. The film is a journey of the young girl and the challenges and adjustment with the city life.
02:15 PM: WORKSHOP- Film History
DETAILS: An outlook towards history of cinema, looking at the films that have been a landmark in world
cinema along with important directors and a focus on Indian cinema and its origin.
21st October : 
10 AM: CHUTKAN KI MOHABBAT BY SANKALP MESHRAM/87 Min./ 2006
SYNOPSIS: A Nautanki team (a Musical folk theatre) sets up camp in a village and the whole village is abuzz with excitement and the ten year old boy Chutkan is no exception to enjoy the whole myth of Pandavas & Kauravas of Mahabharata. The film then takes a hilarious journey in to the Magical realist
genre made richer by the use of folk music, theatre & lyrical passages.
12:00 PM: WORKSHOP CINEMATOGRAPHY
DETAILS: Basics of Cinematography, Shots, Movements, Length, Focus, Dept of Field, Color, Aesthetics.
Hands on experience with Camera Operations and techniques.
01:30 PM: Film Appreciation Session
Details: Understanding the grammar of cinema, learning the art of interpreting films. A review writing
competition to be organized after the session.
04:00 PM: KARAMATI COAT BY AJAY KARTIK/90 Min/1993/HINDI
SYNOPSIS: Bobbing up and down on the sea, a well worn coat is washed ashore. A blue-haired witch, posing as an old ragpicker, places it over Raghu, who is sleeping on the sidewalk. Before Raghu could even thank her she disappears. In the coat pocket Raghu finds a rupee coin. He promptly treats himself with sweets. Soon Raghu finds that it a magic coat. Each time he puts him hand in its pocket he finds a fresh coin. For Raghu it means an unprecedented, godsent windfall. So begins a time of infinite joys, adventures and, with it, the inevitable troubles and dangers. Discovering the secret of the magic coat, a gang of three shady crooks starts hounding Raghu for it. Even Raghu’s brother-in-law joins the chase.
Problems abound, Raghu realises that easy money cannot be enjoyed for long. Now that the whole episode has made him a much wiser person, Raghu throws the magic coat back into the sea.

Synopsis: This is a story of the zany quest of a seven year old girl Sasha for her lost puppy named “Halo”
through the terrifying streets of Bombay. We are guided through the tale by an orthodox nun, a nosey press reporter and a “Donahue” kid with a video camera. The trio follows Sasha and her four year old colleague Anil from the home of a paranoid dog-catcher to a neurotic newspaper editor, a specialized dog-smuggler, a psychotic commissioner of police and, to top the list, a colourful gang of street urchins.
The harrowing chase is com-pounded by Sasha’s criminal lawyer father who refuses to lie even when not
under oath, a glutonomus servant who is all the time hungry and a cousin teenager who is forever lovesick. The City of Bombay spins out of control as the hilarious film zooms to a knuckle-chewing climax.
22nd October :
11:00 AM: SUNSHINE BARRY AND DISCO WORMS BY THOMAS BORCH NIELSEN/78 Min/2008/English
SYNOPSIS: It‘s not easy to be Barry. An earthworm gets no respect. He lives at the bottom of the food chain. He has the most boring job at the composting plant. He‘s all set for a dull life in the dark. But one day an old disco-record turns his life upside down. Suddenly he realizes his destiny: To be star of the world‘s greatest disco band: „Sunshine Barry & The Disco Worms“! Okay, he‘s got no arms, no rhythm and no band. But as Barry says: “We’ll do it anyway!”
1:00 PM: Tools of a director with focus on working with actors
Details:  A special talk by a film maker with children will be organized to talk about the making of films
with focus on children film production. An interactive session will follow with children.
03:00 PM:  The Danish Poet by Torrill Kove/15 Min/ Canada
03:15 PM: Competition
Details:  A review writing competition on The Danish Poet to be held among the children. The best review will get certificate and prize from the organizers.
04:00 PM: YEH HAIN CHAKAD BAKAD BAMBAY BOO BY SRIDHAR RANGAYAN/82 MIN/2003/HINDI
SYNOPSIS: Ganesh’s cousin Dilip comes from Mumbai to spend the holidays, but dislikes his younger
sister Ulhas who has joined him. Uthas, a pretty young girl, is very keen to join Ganesh and Dilip in their
games and adventures but the boys always shoo her away. The children find an injured monkey and Ulhas adopts it, naming it Birbal. The Sensational Six (chakkad) team is now complete. Yeh Hai Chakkad Bakkad Bumbe Bo is all about ‘The Sensational Six’ who not only have fun, but also are true-life Samaritans.

Synopsis: Charandas, a wily thief, steals from Budhdhoo who becomes his devoted disciple in thievery.
To evade, the police Charandas decides to masquerade as a Sadhu's supplicant. The wise Sadhu asks him
to first make four sacrifices of his own choice. Charandas concocts the wildest ones that he feels sure could never come his way. He agrees to resist eating off a golden plate:joining an elephant parade; marrying he is never to tell a lie. Charandas and Budhdhoo become legendary thieves. He is caught when trying to steal from the Queen. Questioned, he adheres strictly to the truth. The Queen, impressed by his truthfulness, offers him the four boons he has foreworn, and the unhappy Charandas refuses them. The rejected Queen begs him not to divulge the truth about her advances. He has to refuse. She orders his execution, which turns out not e that easy. This film is based on a folk tale.
