The coming “Diwali”, the Festival of Light, has a very special significance for the Association. Preceding the festival, from 18 to 24 October, the premises of the Association will be transformed into a colourful “Diwali Bazar”, an event which has found a prominent place in Delhi’s shopping and cultural calendar. Our Diwali Bazar is famous for the sale of colourfully crafted candles, diyas, paper products, floor-mops and dusters made by the visually challenged at our Association’s different units. The Bazar is equally known for the variety of exclusively designed and crafted goods and artefacts put on sale by a large number of non-governmental organizations, designers and craftspersons, providing them an exclusive platform to reach out to the discerning buyers. However, what we feel most important is that this event brings the Association closer to the society and thereby helps in most effectively projecting the capabilities and achievements of the visually challenged.
The Blind Relief Association, Delhi is a premier non-profit charitable organization in the country established in 1944 which has been providing education, vocational training and a range of services to the visually challenged to empower them through knowledge and skills and thereby enabling them to contribute to the society as an equal member.
The earnings from Diwali Bazar goes to finance the Associations activities diverse services in the field of education, vocational training of the blind.
