Event Details : Gati Forum presents 'Flying Low Technique' with Vangelis Legakis.
This intense class will focus on Flying Low and Release techniques. Vangelis will introduce coordination and improvisation exercises to facilitate body awareness and articulation whilst dancing. Vangelis has been exploring for many years body-mind-spirit connection through improvisation and experiential anatomy work, but also through martial arts such as Tai Chi and Budoh. Martial Arts principles, Kundalini and breathing exercises will play a crucial role in the development of the class to enhance consciousness as well as to
broaden perspective and possibilities whilst dancing. Vangelis will teach diverse Forsythe’s Improvisation Techniques which will conjoin and fine-tune the physical with the mental bodies.
Vangelis Legakis graduated from Laban with BA in Dance theatre and MA in Choreography. In 2006 he performed with The Forsythe Company ‘Human Rights’ and in 2008 established The Van – L Dance Company. He has been touring his productions and teaching in Europe, Latin America and now in Asia. In 2010 he participated at the 50 Days workshop of Flying Low and Passing Through by David Zambrano, and received a certificate to teach, develop and spread Zambrano’s work.
Vangelis focuses his work on improvisation and Flying Low as well as on Forsythe’s work. He incorporates principles and theories from philosophies, psycholinguistics and neuroscience through which he has originated novel ways to approach dance practice and choreography as a human activity. He is the author of Methodology of Transcendental Choreology – ‘Emotion Improvisation Methodologies’, ‘Applied Linguistic Viriations’ and ‘Consciousness Enhancing Faculties’.
