"Adhe Adhure" Hindi Play at Akshara Theatre, 11-12 B, Baba Kharak Singh Marg > 7:30pm on 27th May 2011
Time : 7:30 pm
Event Details : 'Adhe Adhure' Hindi Play.
Mohan Rakesh’s best-known play Adhe Adhure will be performed at the Akshara Theatre by seniors students of the Indian Film and Television Institute under the direction of Sandeep Mahajan.
Adhe Adhure is a complex play on the challenged relationships and emotional bankruptcy within a seemingly typical middle-class family. Savitri, the protagonist is apparently a strong-willed woman, single-handedly managing family, finance and career. But as the superficial layers peel away, her struggles with her indifferent husband, unemployed son and promiscuous daughter, expose the truth of her own unrealistic expectations and her emotional failure.
The play attempts to understand the very purpose of life -- as a journey, which is an expression of our long-standing perceptions, where every one of us is seeking and searching for true happiness. On the way, one faces many hurdles - Desire, Disease, Exploitations, Vacuum/ Instability of relationships and fear of death. How to overcome these difficulties?
Experimentation and exploration is the only method. The play speaks out about the vacuum of both men & women where they feel that they are still incomplete i.e. Adhe Adhure even after passing many years of their life.
Actor-Director Sandeep Mahajan has taken part in 700 performances and directed 23 plays. He has been associated with B.V. Karanth, Anamika Haksar, Hema Singh, Rajendran and Adil Hussain, and has worked as Acting Teacher at NSD T.I.E. and has conducted acting workshops at FTII, Pune. He was Creative Director for Tarak Mehta ka Ulta Chashma and has accompanied Asha Bhosle, Sonu Nigam, Kailash Kher and Kunal Ganjawala on their world tour as an anchor.
