THE STORYSHOP is launched!
The name StoryShop says it all, Katha’s newest venture, a bookstore, embodies stories. A shop bustling with stories, stories laughing and talking, stories stitched and woven into beautiful gifts lovingly crafted by the women from the marginalized sections of the society, women with dreams, women who believe they can. Stories painted on walls, stories peeping from doors and windows, hanging from the ceiling. Stories encased in books and more books ... Stories for everyone, from the very young to the very old.
With a mouth-watering spread of many-flavoured feast of good reads, the StoryShop seems like an obvious extension for Katha who has been publishing splendid books for children for over 22 years. The StoryShop will see a grand opening on Children’s Day, this 14th of November and will celebrate the spirit of story with its three-day long festival for children. Interspersed with fun activities for children – Storytelling Sessions, Origami Workshop, Pottery Workshop, Creative Writing Workshop and much more – the Katha StoryShop is not so much about selling books but providing an atmosphere of creativity and imagination. The festival is open to all the young and eager children.
Apart from books, The Katha StoryShop will also house an exciting cross-current of various hand-made products from niche organizations committed to the promotion of hand skills, self-expression and quality workmanship. The beautifully handcrafted products from the women and children from the slum communities of Delhi, where Katha works, will also be on display at the StoryShop. As a part of the Income Generation Programme that Katha runs, the proceeds from sales will go to these women and children. In addition to these, the StoryShop will also have a dynamic cafe where you can read, discuss or just relax!
All-in-all, the Katha StoryShop is a story that will grow on you. So, walk into this story, to find yours.
