Event Description : “Indian PALabras” an exhibition by Rafa Gassó.

Synopsis : Indian PALabras is a work in progress between the entertainment and the need of recording in a more personal way -words & photography-, all the peasantry of these India that will never be published in Media. Most of my work is based in journalism, shooting, writing and trying to capture geographies and moments through the philosophy of the portrait. But my background is in Fine Arts. Always I felt interest about the pictorial possibilities of photography or about the expressionism of words. The boom of social media as an ‘author media' and Smartphone became as the perfect combination of tools for a renewed encounter with the trade of the narrator, in its purest form, at the same time when I felt I was beginning to make automate my work. The social network allows each user to create her own ‘stylebook’ and to decide what is an image and what is a word. And the Smartphone requires thinking: “How to use it?” Also, the technical inaccuracies of those of photo application for Smartphone are ideal to try to bring 'matter' to the purely documentary photography. With Indian PALabras I pretended to reclaim the beauty of imperfection, to celebrate the uncertain science that it means interact, only a with a ‘click’, with the avalanche of stimuli that you can find everyday in the streets, to create a new wooded landscape of possible decisive moments .

Rafa Gassó : Photojournalist and writer, Rafa Gassó changed aseptic floor of newsrooms (Grupo Zeta, Unidad Editorial or Grupo Vocento), for the adventure of stepping mud. He has lived in England, Scotland, Berlin and Morocco, traveled about a year in Southeast Asia, and since five years ago, he exercised as a freelance reporter based between India and Spain, from anywhere in the world where there is a history to portray (Iran, Egypt, Jordan, Algeria, Turkey, Mexico, USA and Eastern Europe ). He is an author of a travel book, another of fiction and a third of photographs.
