Event Description : Dastkar, in partnership with Delhi Tourism, presents Dastkar Basant 2014.

This Peacock themed Spring Festival is Dastkar’s annual Basant celebration of the richness & diversity of Indian handloom and handicraft. 
Dastkar BASANT 2014 showcases the creativity and quality of textiles, crafts & natural products representing 60 different regional craft traditions from 22 States across India, brought to you by the craftspeople themselves. 
Wonderful regional handloom weaves like Maheshwari, Banarasi, tussar, Odisha & Andhra Ikats as well as Uppada & Ghadwal sarees and fine Bandhini will be available, along with block-print textiles in the Bagh, Ajrakh, Bagru & Sanganeri styles. 
Garments, fabrics and decoratives embellished with regional embroideries like Ari, Kutchh stitching, Sindhi, Lambani, Kantha, Kasuti or Sujni will be present. Appliqué fabrics will come from Odisha, Gujarat and Rajasthan. 
Khadi & organic cottons from as far away as Tamil Nadu, fibre bags, boxes & furniture, herbal care or carved gourd lamps & planters will showcase the range and versatility of natural materials. 
Traditional leather footwear along with jewellery ranging from terracotta or lac to Meenakari, Dhokra and tribal silver will delight the visitor. 
Pottery, metal works and walnut wood carving will feature along with dhurries & crewel-work carpets. 
Miniature painting and folk art traditions of Madhubani, Phad, Kalamkari, Pattachitra & Kerala murals will all be present.

West Bengal’s vibrant & colourful Chhau dance performances will be enjoyed from 15th to 17th February.
Enjoy Kabirvani, Kabeliya bapang, Bhopa folk songs and jogi-nath jugalbandi by Rajathan’s nomadic musicians from 18th-23rd February.
Food Court features Maharashtrian, Mangaloeran & Bengali regional cuisines as well as  Mughlai & Chaat specialities and authentic village bajra-roti meals.
 Kids will also have fun on fairground rides like Columbus, Giant Wheel  or the merry-go-round.

Dastkar, a national NGO : working with crafts and craftspeople for over three decades, strongly believes in crafts as catalytic tool for social and economic empowerment and earning. Partnering with Delhi Tourism, it is developing the NATURE BAZAAR venue in Andheria Modh as a craft and cultural hub, linking South Delhi and Gurgaon.
