Event Description : 'Bangalore Fictions - n+n Corsino' The playful and poetic alliance of choreography and digital art. As part of Bonjour-India Festival.
Bangalore Fictions is an interactive choreographic navigation by n + n Corsino that has been created in India and France. Based on the principle of a graphic novel, texts and images meld together in a narrative process and construct an imagination of body movements.
A series of twelve fictions becomes the base of the choreographic pattern. Bangalore fictions will be presented as an exhibition in March 2013 as part of the festival Bonjour India and will be released as an iPad application in February 2013.
Nicole Corsino and Norbert Corsino are choreographers and researchers, who seek to provide dance with unique virtual opportunities through the innovative use of new technologies. Their approach stands out from dance's traditional concept as their choreographic stories are presented through the media of film and installations.
Their series of five installations: Traversées, benefitted from one of the very first commissions from the French Government in the field of visual arts and new technology. After producing the film Totempol in Vancouver where real and digital dancers commingled, they created Captives 2nd movement in 2000 - a work of art in 3D, entirely populated with clones. Seule avec loup -Her alone with wolf, an interactive 3D choreographic navigation, was first presented in June 2006 at the Centre Pompidou, Paris. Soi moi - Self as me, their most recent choreographic navigation, was created for Iphone in 2009. Their installation Extérieur jour, will be showcased as part of Marseille-Provence, European Capital of Culture in 2013.
Amongst other awards, Nicole Corsino and Norbert Corsino have won the Villa Medicis prize for their research on 'Life Forms', a software program for choreographic composition (1994) and received the title of Chevaliers des Arts et des Lettres in 2002
