24th March : Ivan's Childhood (95 mins /1962) 
An evocative, poetic journey through the shadows and shards of one boy's war-torn youth. Moving back and forth between the traumatic realities of WWII and the serene moments of family life before the conflict began, Tarkovsky's film remains one of the most jarring and unforgettable depictions of the impact of violence on children in wartime.Winner of the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival ,1962 and the Golden Gate Award at the San Francisco International Film Festival, 1962. Introduction by film scholar Rashmi Doraiswamy. 
25th March : Solaris (167 mins/1972) 
The Solaris mission has established a base on a planet that appears to host some kind of intelligence, but the details are hazy and very secret. After the mysterious demise of one of the three scientists on the base, the a psychologist is sent out to replace him. He finds the station run-down and the two remaining scientists cold and secretive. When he also encounters his wife who has been dead for seven years, he begins to appreciate the baffling nature of the alien intelligence. Winner of the Grand Prix Spécial du Jury and the FIPRESCI prize, Cannes Film Festival,1972.It was also nominated for the Palme d'Or. The film will be introduced by film scholar Rashmi Doraiswamy.
27th March : Stalker (163 mins/1979) 
Loosely based on the novel Roadside Picnic, the film depicts an expedition led by the 'Stalker' to bring his two clients to a site known as 'the Zone' which supposedly has the potential to fulfill a person's innermost desires. A visually serene, highly metaphoric, and deeply haunting treatise on the essence of the soul.Introduction by film scholar Rashmi Doraiswamy .
