"Desiring" an exhibition of paintings by Shin Changwoon at AIFACS - 1st to 7th August 09

Event Details : Exhibition of paintings entitled “Desiring” by Shin Changwoon.
Artist's Statement : Sometimes I have an illusion that I just staying in the world of surreal. When I see so many temple and mosque in India. It looks God not exist in folklore and mythology but here. They invoke God from surreal world. God always live in Indian's daily life. We can not think that they do not believe in God.
An Indian want to overcome grief of reality of life. After that they dreams about new desire and richness of material through rapport with God.
Nowdays, I express questions about material desire and consumption of a human.
A human being's ambitions are unlimited but can not satisfy with all that.
If the desire become bigger and bigger their pain also increase more and more at the same time. Human being must be satisfied with spiritual emptiness and anguish of reality of life by consumption. The consumption requires money also the money demand of pain of body. They are willing to sell as far as their body in order to gain the money and for enjoyment of physical. They never satisfy with the present and everything is no problem by money. Human being want to have everything. For example authority, riches, glories and happiness etc. Moreover they want to have ability and pretend to do action as if God. These situations are not different that we want to go surreal world but we never reach that place.
I am trying to express about uneasy psychology of people of the same age.
In addition, I would like to think about that what is real meaning of life through my work of art.
