France and India enjoy a substantive partnership at the core of its people-to-people relations, nurtured through collaborations and exchanges for decades. One of its manifestations is the regular rendezvous between our two countries, Bonjour India. This artistic, cultural, educational and social initiative is an Indo-French moment put together by the French cooperation network in India, mainly comprising the Embassy of France and its cultural service, Institut Français en Inde, the Alliance Française network and the Consulates of France.
Bonjour India is bringing to our audiences the best of France. It will showcase in 19 Indian cities a program of 120 events created in collaboration with French and Indian partners in education, science, literature, cinema, gastronomy, street art, performing arts and photography.
Although most of the program is about new partnerships, we also have two historical exhibitions for the 75th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relationships between France and India.
Convergences is a retrospective of how French photographers have pictured India since the invention of photography, and we are getting original photographs from the most famous French museums (Quai Branly, Guimet Museum). Science beyond borders tells the stories of the many scientific partnerships between our two countries in domains as diverse as space science, nuclear science, mathematics, biodiversity, aviation, physics and more. The initiative will take you through some rare snippets of the prized Tata Central Archives, give you a peek into Airbus’ geospatial digital platform, bring to fore some brilliant records from the Institut Français de Pondichéry and delve into the experiences, memories, testimonies of many brilliant personalities, from India, from France.
In literature, we will invite India to choose its Goncourt Award, the most prestigious French literary prize, created in 1903.
There will be juggling and acrobats with the circus company Analemma, and there will be cinema under the stars with good French food and wine with Cafe Cinema.
Finally, we are very excited to host Blanca Li, one of the most prestigious French ballet
companies, performing in Delhi with their show Elektrik.
Several dozen authors will also visit different Indian cities and interact with their counterparts around workshops, conferences and debates.
