The Embassies and High Commissions of the Group of Latin American and Caribbean Countries (GRULAC) present "Weaving Identity" Textile richness in Latin America and the Caribbean

This unique exhibition showcasing textiles of GRULAC nations with the invaluable support of The National Handicrafts and Handlooms Museum.

About the exhibition: Behind the colors and patterns of Latin American and Caribbean textiles, lies the history of a whole region. The textiles featured in the exhibition give a peek into a kaleidoscope of colors and traditions. They capture a rich heritage shaped by multiple influences: pre-Columbian, Colonial, and Modern, Indigenous, European, African and Asian, including Indian techniques and materials. The textiles shown in the exhibition are the result, not only of local knowledge and inherited practices of many generations, but also of the creativity and artistry of men and women of Latin America and the Caribbean. Decorative, utilitarian, ceremonial, their uses, techniques and history are as vast as their beauty. The aim of the exhibition is to offer a glimpse at the colorful and diverse art of weaving the Latin American and the Caribbean identity.
