Event Description : THEATRE : Anuragna Theatre Group presents "Char Rang" based on Manto's Thanda Gosht & Premchand's Bade Bhai Sahab

Bade Bhai Saheb is one such play that tells a story of the relationship between two brothers. Kamta, the elder brother, spends all his time studying. Such is his passion to understand each and every word written in the book that sometimes he stays in one standard a couple of times just to understand the subjects thoroughly. Samta, the younger brother, is just the opposite of Kamta. He is more interested in playing with friends than in studying. But he is terrified of his elder brother and to please him starts studying the minute he sees him.

Thanda Gosht is about the communal violence of 1947. Ishwar Singh, a Sikh fails to make love to his mistress Kalwant. She suspects him of infidelity and in a fit of jealousy stabs him with his own dagger. While dying, Ishwar Singh admits his crime getting involved in riots which broke in his village killing a Muslim family with same dagger and abducting a Muslim girl after breaking in their house and attempting to rape her, who was actually dead.

About the group : Established in 2013, Anuragna Theatre Group works from Delhi. Apart from doing productions, the group also organizes workshops on different aspects of theatre such as playwrighting, acting and poetry writing. Their successful productions include Premchand’s Boodhi kaki, Vijaydan Detha’s Goge ki mithayi, Bhartendu Harishchander’s Andher Nagri, Harisuman Bisht’s December 1971 etc.
