Event Description : MUSIC & DANCE : Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan promoting Sanskrit & Sanskriti cordially invites you to 'Sangeet Samaroh' a festival of Indian Classical Music & Dance. 

Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, a Trust and non-profit Organisation, has served the cause of education and culture including performing arts since its inception in 1938 and is today recognized for its yeomen services in the field of education and culture, as an “Institute of National Eminence” by Government of India and is the recipient of “Communal Harmony Award”, “Rajiv Gandhi Award for National Integration” and above all “International Gandhi Peace Prize”.

Bhavan’s Delhi Kendra will host Bhavan’s 8th “Sangeet Samaroh” to mark its Foundation Day. In which eminent artistes shall participate like previous years.

Bhavan has so far hosted artistes viz. Pt. Jasraj, Smt. Ashwini Bhide Deshpande, Pt. Rajan and Sajan Mishra, Shri T. V. Sankaranarayanan, Smt. Sudha Raghunathan, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Pt. Debu Chaudhuri, Pt. Hari Prasad Chaurasia, Smt. Leela Samson, Smt. Alarmel Valli, Smt. Shovana Narayan, Pt.Channulal Mishra, Shri Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, Pt. Birju Maharaj and Dr. M. Balamurali Krishna, Dr. Ananda Shankar Jayant, Shri T.M.Krishna, Kum.Uma Sharma, Shri Ranendra (Ronu) Majumdar,Shri Kamal Sabri and Smt. Girija Devi.

Bhavan every year honor  an eminent artist with “Bhavan’s Sangeet Shikhar Samman” comprising  of  Rs. One Lac purse a Scroll, Citation & Shawl.  Bhavan has the distinction of honoring  ,Ustad Zia Fariddin Dagar ,Sh. T.N. Krishnan, Pt. Birju Maharaj ,Dr. Balamuralikrishna and Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia  and Smt. Girija Devi  are the other artistes honored with the Samman so far. 

We also bring out a Digest/Souvenir on this occasion.   The Seven thematic Souvenir brought out on the previous years, i.e. 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 ,2014 and 2015 have become collector’s items.  This year’s theme of our Swar Bharati -2016 is a famous “Sangītaratnākara ofŚārṅgadeva”, Scholars, authors and critics of repute are contributing their articles and views for this Digest
