Event Description : MUSIC & DANCE : Ethos of 'Dancing with The Beloved'
This is a world peace concert to propagate peace in today's times of unrest and invokes the substance of Sufism or the selfless experiencing and actualization of the Truth by means of love and devotion. The Sufi is a lover of Truth, who by means of love and devotion moves towards the Truth, towards perfection which all are truly seeking. The mysticism of being Sufi involves an enlightened inner being, revelation and witnessing.
This concert intends to propagate 'love for all' and urges us all to go beyond and aggression, anger and unrest and explore empathy and love to move toward and merge with the Truth and share the 'DANCE with the ‘Beloved’.
Music :
The music of 'DANCING with the BELOVED.' Is choreographed on Sufi kalaams arranged by well known international artist and musician Abhijit Pohankar . After playing classical music on keyboard, he started venturing into world music and fusion music. His biggest album was Piya Bawari and in that album he experimented with classical music fused with lounge music. One of the youngest artists to be featured in Buddha Bar of France, Abhijit has started his new world music band Sounds of India & Urban Ragas and is performing all over the world. He is one of the most successful fusion music producers. The Kalaams communicate through symbolic expressions and dance displays the depth of spirituality, the inner state of mystical love, and most important in these times of unrest and war - Unity of Being .
Qawwali :
Munnawar Masoom Khan is the most traditional Indian qawali maestro who has been awarded Fakh-re- Madhya Pradesh. He draws the audience with his renditions of lyrics by Hazrat Amir Khusro and Sufi Kalam. He has been recognised for his performance Idea Jalsa on Doordarshan, Times festival and Pandit Motiram Pandit Maniram Sangeet Samaroh organised by Pandit Jasraj.
He has performed with Kailash Kher and Javed Ali.
Dance:
Sri Harish Gangani : is a merit scholarship holder fro kathak kendra and son of well renowned kathak exponent Sri Kundal Lal Gangani of Jaipur gharana . in the course of his training. He is the recipient of the national scholarship in 1994 and the junior fellowship in 1996, awarded by the Ministry of Human Resources and Development. He has been honored the “Shringarmani” by the Sur Singar Samiti, Mumbai. His contribution to kathak is cherished by institutions of dance in India.
Renuka kumar: is the artistic director , performer and promoter of Sattva performing arts foundation with a degree in performing arts from the Darpana academy of performing arts Ahmedabad and has trained and performed with Mallika sarabhai and late smt Mrinalini Sarabhai exploring three genres -Kathak being one . She has dedicated this collaborative concert to propagate 'world peace' in these times of unrest in the world
The concert is supported and joined by the artists and teachers *of Kathak kendra , bharatiya kala kendra and Gandharva Maha vidyalaya.
