Event Description : THEATRE : Elephant in the Room by Yuki Ellias as part of The Park’s New Festival

Elephant in the room is a solo performance piece developed by Yuki Ellias and Ajinkya Shenava. The narrative is inspired by the myths, beliefs and affection for the Elephant God. The elaborate 10-day visarjan ceremonies in Maharashtra contributed in seeding the idea of exploring the story of Ganesha before he became a God.  This theatre performance is commissioned specifically for The Park’s New Festival 2016.

Background :  The Park’s New Festival, India’s only National Contemporary Arts Festival, that has brought together - enchanting music, lyrical dance, dramatic visual art and enthralling theatrical performances is celebrating its decadal year from 02nd Sept to 22nd Sept, 2016 across six cities.
The Park Hotels and Prakriti Foundation conceptualized and curated The Park’s New Festival in 2007. The festival aims to deepen the relationship with emerging art scenario in the country. To be held across 6 cities over a period of almost a month, the festival brings together acclaimed artists from all over the world, putting together excellent pieces of engaging acts and look forward to entertain the discerning audience.
The ten editions of the cultural rendezvous have laid about 50 performances from local as well as acclaimed international artists for more than 1,00,000 culturati.
