Event Description : Art Life Gallery presents “Save water: Every Sip is Sacred” group art show by six artists.

The six artists are Mahmood Ahmed, AK Azad, Jatin Chaudhary, Dr Chitralekha Singh, Dr Chitra Singh and Vivek Singh.

With water fast growing into a scarce commodity, it’s time that people woke up to the fact that monsoon is increasingly growing variable due to global warming and this will remain a trend. To denote this grim situation, Dr Chitralekha Singh depicts a couple sitting on the river bank, consoling each other awaiting the rain, since the rain clouds have disappeared, therefore the clear sky with the bright moon. “I want to show the plight of the farmers for whom, even now, no rain means days of hunger will follow,” says Dr Singh, who has also held several shows in countries like Italy, Vietnam and Mauritius.
If anything, far more strenuous situations will be the order of the day in future. The time for serious solutions is now, with the water clock ticking away fast. “Till the time we have the water, the mother earth as I have shown in my paintings will remain bright and beautiful otherwise as we may notice in the background, it will turn angry, fiery and red,” says AK Azad another senior artist who has participated in the show.
Droughts do not occur suddenly; in fact, they are a long time coming and allow more than adequate time to take appropriate measures. It is another matter that we do not act in time. “This is what I want to say when I painted the Shiva with the image of a red Earth behind the “shivalinga”, says Sunanda Singh another artist in the show.
“It is time, the people are serious about plans to relieve the water stress, at least as far as drinking water is concerned,” says Pratibha Agarwal, curator of the show and co-promoter of the Art Life Gallery.
