About Madhurie's Work Series of Reflections and Horizons
Discovering abstraction is much deeper than a play of colour or lines, in the past decade Madhuri returned to her first love of landscapes and created a body of abstract landscapes and seascapes. “Abstracts are about the person you are. They help you understand and work out the complexity of your own emotions. As I explored the expression I came to love the process of painting abstracts”
There was no looking back as she started painting abstract seascapes. Travels to port towns across the world brought Madhuri in touch with the beauty of the sea, its openness and vastness, the majesty of spectacular sunsets across sky and water, and views of fishing boats at sea or tied at the shore. As Madhuri recalled those seascapes, she created spectacular vignettes of sky, water and boats, in rich colours and tones, creating a spectrum of moods.
Reflecting on the works Madhuri says as form dissolves in abstracts, colour takes on a fundamental importance. And she wields colour magically, she brings earth, water and sky alive in all their glory, breathes life into sunsets and captures the essence of suggested forms. Through colour and brush strokes, she touches a chord in the viewer,
Madhuri Says “Art is an expression of what you are and my abstracts are what I am. Much of my work is inspired by travel. From museums like the Paul Klee Museum in Bern and the many beautiful places I have visited in Banaras, the Konkan Coast, Ladakh, Croatia, Petra, Guilin in China and Istanbul, among others. I bring back memories, the romance, visual impressions and images of colour of a place, and recreate them on canvas”
Her recent body of work recalls images of places visited in abstract forms, a rich colour palette and in haunting open vistas. “I have created a story on each canvas, starting by visualizing a place, recalling a memory, and allowed the flow to take me forward and be part of the sequential forms and layering that go on to emerge. I find myself using multiple colours on some canvases, with one colour being predominant. I also find beauty in colour palettes like black and gold that recall the mystery and splendour of the sea by night”.
In these stunning works all the unessential forms and details have been pared away, and just the essence of a place has been brought to life most effortlessly. “As the frills of life decrease so do the frills of art diminish. I can feel that I have reached where I needed to reach. It is just me, canvas, paint and the essence of my emotion. Painting is now like meditation. I feel closest to God when I paint”.
Madhuri Bhaduri's works will be showcased in an upcoming Art show titled the "Art Junction" at the Lalit Hotel, New Delhi curated by a well known Art Gallery owner and Curator from Delhi for a span of a month where several known and senior Artists shall be displaying their work for Art enthusiasts, collectors and visitors.
About Aarrti Zaveri's Work- Series of Timeless Moments
Her work “Pehchaan” dwelt on the subject of retrospection, depicted through “Masks” and carried a message that, “Each self carries immense light, a treasure of vision that needs introspection to discover their own center”. The series made her come out of her self-imposed restrain to explore the variety of subjects dealing with emotions. Her Puzzle series of paintings is inspired by the “Jigsaw puzzle of beautiful life”. In the beginning there are so many pieces and it is hard to find out where to start. But piece-by-piece we start the journey. Life is a paradox, a puzzle; one who solves it makes it simple and rest remains just part of the puzzle.
It’s very easy to complicate our life and puzzle it up. At the same time it is very difficult to simplify the essence of life that life is indeed beautiful. We have endowed the present moments of happiness and are stuck either to strive for tomorrow or to grieve in yesterday. Choice is yours; what you want from life, a puzzle or moments that we have right now.
Her “Timeless Moments” series is based on Time; the zone of the known and the unknown and the most valuable asset in a person’s life. This series is based on a simple question that aroused in me “Is it us who made time or time that has made us what we are”? Time is an essential dimension of the universe and an essential component of life.
Everything transforms every second and every moment the universe is changing or so it may seem. But is it really changing? In totality there is no change. Like a tree that is created from a seed, will fruit the same seed to create the same tree again but it will never be the same, similarly our feelings, emotions, attitudes and perceptions may vary but it is only life that transforms....
ART JUNCTION : The only hotel in Delhi to have an art gallery, Art Junction at The Lalit New Delhi is a dedicated space for showcasing art. The gallery with a quaint café has displayed works of over 5000 artists, both upcoming and established.
Art Junction is curated by Naresh Kapuria and displays artworks, from oil, charcoal and watercolour paintings to sculptures, photographs and installations.
