“For those of you who thought that it is impossible to walk in Delhi, this Festival may come as a pleasant surprise . We have handpicked guided walking tours that reveal the incredible layers that our city has to offer. Heritage, Food, Djinns, Sufi music, Foraging to name a few. There hasn't been a more exciting time in the city; for disruption, for rethinking, for conversation. The Delhi Walk Festival is an opportunity to acknowledge all the exciting work that has been happening in the realm of urban exploration. The idea is to also bring people together and make room for conversation about improving the culture of walking and its larger implication on pollution and mobility.” Says Aastha Chauhan Director of Delhi, I love you.
It will bring together 31 organisations/experts like Sadia Dehlvi, Sohail Hashmi, Manoj Misra, INTACH, Swechha, Salaam Balak Trust amongst others; for conducting 80 walking tours in different neighbourhoods. The objective of the Walk Festival is to identify, connect and highlight the initiatives that promote the culture of walking in the city and share its multi-layered narrative; as experienced on foot.
“What if we all looked at Delhi in a new light? What if we focused on what we truly like about our city? Its initiatives, its creativity, its history, its food, its stories, its biodiversity, its people? That is the idea behind Delhi, I Love you – a cultural and social movement that promotes and connects its people and their initiative to make a city better” says Says Aastha Chauhan Director of Delhi, I love you.
She further adds, “Our main aim behind this walk festival is to create a safe and festive environment around the theme of exploring the city on foot.” She hopes this festival will become an annual affair that both Delhi-ites and tourists look forward to.
