Held in the pride of the Naval Force from India and that from 50 other countries, the event engaged an audience of more than 10,000 people and was adorned with the presence of our honorable Prime Minister, Shri Narender Modi. Bollywood superstars, Akshay Kumar and Kangana Ranaut also joined hand-in-hand and gave their voice to the performance along with Ssameer and his band, Qasbah.

When it’s about music, Ssameer follows his own unique pace, and when it’s about his fans, Ssameer knows exactly how to hit the right chords!

DelhiEvents.com took an interview with Ssameer :

What's music to you?

When lyrics and melody join hand in hand, music is formed. For me music is an expression through which I can speak my heart out. I would also say that the kind of music a person listens to defines the state of mind of the person

Love is a recurrent theme in Indian music. Is it possible to make an album without a tribute to love?

Yes it is indeed a recurrent theme in Indian Music. Before answering the second part of the question,  I would like to get to the definition of love… In a broader sense, Love for me is not about a girl and a boy, love could be for one’s country, love could be between two friends or love could also mean friendship between nations. In this case i would say it would be difficult to make an album without "tribute to love".
I do understand your question was pointing to a girl-boy love. I would not say it is impossible to make such kind of albums. Many such songs have  already been composed by many great musicians in and around the world.
Recently I composed and had sung the song “Ahoy-Hello-Namaste” which was an official theme song for for IFR 2016, the song was all about unity of the whole world, friendship between all the countries on this planet. Then I also made a song for Gujarat- “Kai-Po-Chhe” it was a song on kite flying, it also focussed on issues such as “beti bachao, beti badao” and "swachh bharat abhiyaan”. The song was about festivity, sensitivity and responsibility. “Sundarban Rap” happens to be one more song i made for the movie “Roar” that focussed on “Save the tiger”. The list goes on...

Out of the songs you have recorded so far, which one is your favourite?

I have quite a few of my personal favourite songs that i have recorded. Some of them are Soniye (Na Jaavin Kadi Duur), Saawari, Ishq Khudaya, Ankhiyaan Nu rehn de….
well these are all tribute to love… haha...

Of late, there have been some new singers who have complained that their voices have been replaced after recording a song. Have you ever had this experience?

Yes i do know that this happens most of the times when finalising a song, a celebrity artist is called to record the final song. It is very disheartening that lot of singer give their heart and soul while composing the song, then the song goes to someone else’s kitty. Regarding me, there were times i knew that my song would be dubbed my some other artist but to my luck or by God’s grace, the other voice did not work out. The producer or the client felt that the emotion that I delivered could not be delivered by anyone else and they liked my voice so much that they wanted to keep the song with my voice. "Ahoy-hello-Namaste" was one of the them. And one more that i recall is "Handsome Life”, it was a song for the brand “Fair and Handsome” featuring Hritik Roshan in the video.
I feel when you have an originality to your voice, no one else can else can replace you.

This is not the era of physical sales though. So how are you planning to market the album?

These days the era is digital downloads, streaming, CRBT’s etc. One need not sell the physical album in the market. Rather these days i see no one likes to keep songs as a CD or even keep the songs in their MP3 player. I have observed that people like to stream music. So whatever they want to listen to, its available on various online platforms like youtube, I-tunes, saavn, gaana and many more. And one gets the royalty on the number of plays or hits. So, its all about getting your music online and if its good people are going to listen to it.
Also, I would recommend for the new singers and musicians that performing live is the best way to get your music across to people rather than wait for some producer to release their music.
